Why age 10 matters
At ten, kids are ready for the same Kyokushin curriculum that adults learn — just taught with their bodies, attention spans, and energy in mind. Junior Karate is where students leave the children's stripe system behind and start training toward their first real KYU rank.
What students learn
Junior Karate runs four nights a week so families can pick the schedule that fits — train one, two, three, or four times. Each class includes kihon (fundamental techniques), kata (Taikyoku 1, 2, 3 and Sokugi Taikyoku 1, 2, 3 over the first two ranks), and controlled kumite at age-appropriate intensity. Discipline, courtesy, and respect are built in alongside the physical training.
The instructor team
Junior Karate is taught on a rotating basis by Senpai Alex, Senpai Sora, and senior dojo instructors. All Junior Karate instructors are certified in the Kyokushin curriculum and trained in working with the 10–14 age group. Multiple instructors mean students see different teaching styles and develop a wider range of skills.

Coming from OSU! Kids?
Students graduating from OSU! Kids enter Junior Karate at age 10. The curriculum shifts from the children's stripe system (Jr.10 through Jr.01) to the adult KYU system, beginning at 10th KYU. It's a meaningful transition — your child is now learning the same syllabus that takes serious students to black belt and beyond.
